§1. “The physician’s high and only mission is to restore the sick to health, to cure as it is termed”.

Dr Hahnemann established his system of medicine “Homeopathy”, he made sure to constantly remind his followers that they have one and only one calling in life. He has used the word ‘mission‘. Mission means the special task or purpose for which a person is apparently destined in life, their calling in life. Thus, Hahnemann wanted to instill in his followers a single-minded devotion towards their work as homeopaths. So he used the word mission which meant calling in life. This one and only calling was to restore any sick person to his former state of health and well-being.

The physician’s calling is not to make countless attempts at explanation regarding disease appearences and their proximate but to treat the person as a whole, to improve the patient’s life on all level -entire spiritual-mental-emotional-physical levels. Physician must understand the core of the person, to the body’s own healing energy, strengthening it and balancing it, so that not only the do the specific disease symptoms disappear, the entire spiritual-mental-emotional-physical being restored to natural state it was created in and giving the person a ease or freedom.

The term “the sick” is referred to the patient who is sick and to be restored to health, not his body, not the tissues or the organs. The person as a whole is sick, not the organs or the tissues, these are the end results which takes place after the person’s main dynamic energy is disturbed. The sick will come back to the normal state when the disturbed energy is returned back to normal state with the help of an energized medicine. The tissues could not become sick unless something prior to them had been dearranged and so make him sick. The real sick person is prior to the sick body.

It is the sole duty of the physician to heal the sick. It is not his sole duty to heal the results of the sickness, but the sickness itself. When the person himself has been restored to health. There will be restored harmony in the tissues and in the activities. Then the sole duty of the physician is to put in order the interior of the economy ie, the will and understanding conjoined. Tissue changes are of the body and are the results of disease. They are not the disease.

The physicians mission is not however, to contruct so-called systems, by interviewing empty speculations and hypotheses concerning the internal essential nature of the vital processes and the mode in which diseases originate in the invisible interior of the organism.

Sickness can be learned by the study of the provings of drugs upon healthy economy. The mind symptoms are the most important and key to the person. The two grand part of human life is “will” and “understanding” , if there is a seperation or disorder then that will give rise to any disease. All medicines operate upon the will and understanding first affecting man in his ability to think or to will, and ultimately upon the tissues, the functions and sensations. So every proved drug in the Materia Medica, we see them affecting first man’s mind and proceeding from the mind to the physical economy, to the outermost, to the skin, the hair, the nails etc. The art of healing constitutes proper administration of the similar remedy considering the totality of the symptom  and the sickness symptoms of the drug in Materia Medica is similar to the sickness in the man.
